CANADIAN ROCKIES SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
With Steve Seskin and Cori Brewster
Come to the beautiful and scenic Rocky Mountains (Canmore, Alberta)
for a songwriting experience you will not forget.
July 28 - July 30, 2011
This two-day intensive workshop will cover a wide range of topics for all levels of songwriters.
~Lyric Writing: Tools that every songwriter needs to be a better lyric writer. Learn how the
magical combination of imagery and emotion contributes to drawing the listener in.
~Melody Making: Explore methods in choosing an appropriate melody, rhythm and range that
brings out the emotion in every song.
~Writing/Rewriting: The Curse of the 2nd Verse, the place where most writers seem to get stuck.
We will discuss strategies that can make your second verse even stronger than your first.
Learn `when a song is finished’ and how to stick with it until the end.
~Rhyming, Figurative Language and Point of View: Three essential elements to make your songs shine.
~Inspiration: Where do songs come from? ‘Jump start’ your creativity with exercises that will
empower you to write about more than just your own life. Learn how to use emotional moments as catalysts to inspire you.
~Evening Sessions: Song evaluations, open-mic for participants and networking opportunities.
